Lee Barfield

Hello I am Lee Barfield the tutor at LA Guitar School & I have.been teaching guitar full-time since 1995 after graduating from ICMP London in 1994.

L. A. Guitar School started teaching from express music in George St Tamworth in 1995 before moving to the white house 93 Lichfield St, now we are based in 14 Silver St.

I have accumulated 31 years teaching experience from 1995 to 2026.

Lee’s Musical influences

Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Guns N Roses, whitesnake, Iron Maiden were my influences before & during my playing.

Lee Barfield’s Education

My professional education was through the institute of contemporary music and performance (ICMP), formally the guitar institute of technology.

I relocated to Acton London at 21 years old. Here I successfully acquired a scholarship to study at the college.

I graduated with my diploma in 1994 & I successfully acquired my grade 8 with RSL accredited by UCAS as being equivalent to A-Level music.

LA Guitar School at the beginning was also supported by the “The Prince’s Trust”.

Live playing

My first experience of playing live was at college & my weekly dose at Bob’s good time blue pub in Shepard’s bush London in 1994.

Returning to Tamworth I then played bass for a local indie band before playing lead & rhythm for tumbling dice a “rolling stones” covers band.

About My Years of experience

I started playing guitar in 1991, and started teaching in 1995 & still teach9ng to this day in 2026.

I’ve been professionally trained by session guitarists who have been in their professional field for years, from the cruise ships, studio musicians & guitar magazine columnists.
